SOURCES & BIBLIOGRAPHY
The following is a small segment of a long bibliography, and a small list of some of the many sources, the BHP has used in its search for dates, facts, and places on the various bboy milestones.
The types of sources that we used to get the information for the timeline came from a combination of newspaper articles, magazine articles, relics (ie. flyers), video footage, non-digital photographs, official websites, real-time witnessing & recording of events by various people (including those on the BHP team), and of course, the word and/or official reports of those involved in the various milestones in question. For most of the timeline entries, we did a combination of talking to the people involved in the milestones in question in addition to gleaning clues from other sources that match what the people-sources tell us. For instance, the debut date of the movie FLASHDANCE came from IMDB.com, but we also dug up an old newspaper clipping that showed that very same date.
While it is nearly impossible to list every single source we have used throughout our research, because the research involved a lot of major & minor clues here and there leading to others & others & others and thus we lost track of some of them, we believe the partial lists below shows how serious and accurate the BHP is in seeking out its facts, and should be enough to lend credibility to the BHP Bboy Timeline. We hope you all feel elated as you check out these sources yourselves and be shown revelations of mythical past Hip Hop/Bboy milestones that you've always wondered about. Some of the many news articles we dug up are listed below, which you can later check out yourselves on microfilm at your local libraries…The magazine articles involved have their info listed with their timeline entries (refer to timeline)…The non-digital photographs that we gleaned clues from were treated as just clues/leads and at the time we didn’t realize they would be considered bibliography, therefore we didn’t keep them for later public inspection…the same thing with the video footage, however some video footage we viewed came from official DVD's sold by the various event producers which you can order direct from them…Most official websites were treated simply as clue sources, but listed below are some of the websites that were treated as major info sources…And of course there is no way to list any bibliography of the real-time witnessing of events since the source is direct…Some of the relics we gleaned info from are listed below that will link you to a scan of said relic, and more will be added to the list as we scan them and as people submit them… For the people & organizations we gleaned info from through talking to them and/or official reports they submitted to us, we could only list some of them because in the course of our research we spoke to so many people who contributed in various ways, including many delegated agent researchers (most of whom we lost track of). Some organizations & people gave us clues to another clue, some gave direct reports, some gave parts of the info, etc. Therefore we did not think to record every single person we spoke to along the way. And as with the relics-list, we will add more to the people-source list as people come to us to add more entries or correct them.
